This site commemorates the place where Confederate troops, vastly outnumbered, held off an invading Union army against all odds. I certainly have mixed feelings about celebrating the Union defeat, but it's impossible not to admire the tenacity of these troops. The park itself is relatively simple, but there is an opportunity to follow a little cement trail from placard to placard and read all about it. The descriptions of the site are interesting, and there's a noteworthy sculpture. The site is well maintained and the grass is well cut and well maintained. A great place for your family to get out of the car and run around a bit.
