I fish here a couple times a year. The park is generally clean and well maintained, but I wish a game warden would stop by from time to time. Everytime I've been here there's at least one guy throwing a cast net from the pier (illegal to do) and occasionally the drinking and roudiness gets out of hand.
The fishing and crabbing were awesome most of the time and a peaceful place to take the family and pets and just let time go and enjoy the nature of the park. Bathrooms were the only thing I didn't like. They were usually nasty and stanky.
Great fishing and crabbing from the pier. Very well lit for night fishing.
This place is a gem if you get it on the right day. My friends and I came in for the hurricane relief and needed to find somewhere to bed down. This place was the last of the spots I thought to check and it did NOT disappoint! I'm lying in bed now at 2337 as 2 of my party continue fishing outside just 20 feet from me. Great Red and Black drum as well as cat! Such a wonderful turnout!
Very nice park with some of the best shore/pier fishing in Texas and it's free! Seasonally, you can catch nice flounder near the shore, specs all along the pier, or really big black and red drum from the end of the pier. We have landed some really big alligator gar here as well. The store on the other side of the bridge has great burgers. In the park, you will find covered areas and picnic tables as well as a brick restroom structure. You can launch a boat here as well.
The restrooms could be improved and the reason for one less star. Stainless fixtures and no doors on the stalls.
